The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to build the knowledge, skill and competence required for participation in higher education, including acquiring a broad range of knowledge in an area of personal interest, and key skills for academic research and enquiry. Work placement / work experience may be a core feature/element of programmes in this field facilitating the enhancement of employability and transversal skills.
On completion of this programme learners will have acquired a broad range of knowledge in an area of personal interest together with key skills for academic research and enquiry. Learners will have the skills, knowledge and competencies to make informed decisions concerning participation in further education or training.
Students who have completed Leaving Certificate and Leaving Cert Applied are eligible to apply. Students without educational qualifications but with relevant experience/interest in an area may also be considered. Mature students and students presenting alternative qualifications are welcome.
Acceptance will be based on interview to determine suitability for the course. In the event of excess applications, places will be allocated on the basis of a waiting list.
There are no course fees; however there may be costs associated with uniform or equipment. These costs are listed on the course information pages on our website.
Applicants who have a medical card, or are on BTEA scheme, should present proof of this at registration.
