Student progression and your Qualification

All our courses offer certification under the newly established Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).  QQI replaces the National Qualification Authority of Ireland (NQAI), Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC), the Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC), and the functions of the Irish Universities Quality Board (IQUB).

QQI operates a National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) making it easier to compare the standard of courses and awards.  The Framework consists of ten levels based on specified standards of knowledge, skill and competence.  These standards define the outcomes to be achieved by learners seeking to gain awards at each level. This framework is designed so that different levels of qualifications can be commonly recognised at home and abroad. Progression routes are clearly outlined. All awards at Sligo CFE are recognised at either Level 5 or 6 on the NFQ.
