This is a one year course which consists of intensive training in the skills and education required for the Hairdressing Industry with the option to continue for a further year to a higher level of hairdressing in Sligo CFE. Our award winning hairdressing team provide training in the fully-equipped college hairdressing salon. Our work experience programme offers students the opportunity to further develop their skills in selected and approved hairdressing salons.

This Course is designed to;

  • Equip the learner with the knowledge and practical skills required for a career as a trainee hairdresser.
  • It is the perfect induction to the basics in hairdressing and can open a world of opportunity into the world of hairdressing.

  • Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied, or equivalent

Sligocfe is a major provider of courses for the Hairdressing Industry including training for apprentices for Junior Trade and City & Guilds international diploma. Upon successful completion of this course, students may gain placement as a Senior First Year Apprentice in a high-profile hairdressing salon or progress to Year 2 Hairdressing in Sligocfe.

  • Two uniforms required, salon tunic crested with Sligo college of F.E. logo available from Jako suppliers Sligo. (Approximate cost 50 euro’s for both)

  • At registration students will be requested to complete documentation in order to successfully pass a garda vetting process before they commence work experience.
